ECC: Driving Force Behind A Successful Campaign

Amy Henry is one of the behind-the-scenes driving forces for Bank of Oklahoma’s support of the Tulsa Area United Way.

Amy, who is Assistant Vice President and Senior Community and Employee Engagement Specialist at Bank of Oklahoma, serves as the Employee Campaign Coordinator, or “ECC,” for the bank’s United Way campaign.

In fact, Amy helps coordinate the bank’s support of United Ways across their Midwest footprint, working with bank campaign chairpersons in 11 cities.

“We ensure all of our United Way campaigns have strong leadership, adopt consistent messaging and benefit from convenient, online giving,” Amy says.

BOK Financial employees pledged more than $2.2 million for United Ways in the markets it serves in 2015, with more than half of that in Tulsa. Combined with the corporate commitment, that is an impact of $3.1 million.

Bank of Oklahoma has been one of Tulsa Area United Way’s leading supporters for many years and has been one of five Cornerstone Million Dollar Plus organizations for nine years. “As our employee base has grown, the generosity of our employees remains steadfast,” she says.

The bank’s campaign is a model for other organizations to follow. “Incentives include prizes for first-time givers, those pledging early or increasing their support from last year, as well as paid time off for pledging online,” Amy says. Last year, 75 percent of bank employees participated in the United Way campaign.

Like many company and organizational campaigns, the bank conducts fundraising events such as an online auction and jeans day passes. BOK also selects a theme to rally around. This year, the theme is “Carry the Torch for United Way,” based on the upcoming summer Olympics.

“Running a United Way campaign really has a lot of benefits for companies,” she says. “It can boost team building, employee engagement in the workplace, and pride in local communities.”
